Creating a Restricted Category
You can make a Category a Restricted one as you're creating it.
To make it Restricted, click the Restrict views checkbox in the Add Category page.

When you click the Save Changes button, the Category will be created and it will be a Restricted one.
A newly-created Restricted Category will be readable only by the following people:
| · | Readers who are logged in and have Administrative privileges for your weblog |
| · | Readers who are logged in and have Trusted Reader status |
To allow other people to access the Category, you will need to change the Category's Permissions. Category Permissions are covered in the Giving Readers Access to Restricted Categories and Photo Albums section.
Creating a Restricted Photo Album
You can make a Photo Album a Restricted one as you're creating it.
To make it Restricted, click the Restrict views checkbox in the Add Photo Album page.

When you click the Save Changes button, the Photo Album will be created and it will be a Restricted one.
A newly-created Restricted Photo Album will be readable only by the following people:

Changing an Existing Category into a Restricted One (or Back)
Any existing Category can be turned into a Restricted Category (or Back) by making a single change in its Category Settings page.
To change an existing Category into a Restricted One (or Back):

Select the Category in the Post Manager |
| 2. Go to its Category Settings Page |
| 3. Check (or uncheck) the "Restrict Views" checkbox |
| 4. Click the "Save Changes" button |
Select the Category in the Post Manager
You must first go to the Post Manager and select the Category whose Restricted status you wish to change.
The screen shot below shows "Rants" being selected in the Category Tree in the Post Manager. Clicking on "Rants" makes it the selected Category.

Go to its Category Settings Page
The next step is to make sure that we are in the Category's Category Settings page. To do this, click on the Category Settings link in the Navigation Bar.
Check (or uncheck) the "Restrict Views" Checkbox
The Restrict views checkbox is in the Category Properties area of the Category Settings page.
| · | If you want to make the Category a Restricted one, check the Restrict views checkbox. |
| · | If you want to make the Category non-Restricted, uncheck the Restrict views checkbox. |

Click the "Save Changes" button
To finalize your changes, click the Save Changes button. The Category will now be Restricted.
If the Category has just been changed into a Restricted one, it will be readable only by the following people:

You must first go to the Post Manager and select the Photo Album whose Restricted status you wish to change.
