Who "Naturally" Has Access to Restricted Categories and Photo Albums on Your Weblog?
When you create a Restricted Category or Photo Album or restrict an existing one, a small set of readers will "naturally" have access to it:
| · | Logged-in
readers with Administrative privileges are allowed to view, post
to and administer all Restricted Categories and Photo Albums. |
| · | Logged-in
readers with Trusted Poster privileges are allowed to view and post
to all Restricted Categories and Photo Albums. |
| · | Logged-in
readers with Trusted Reader privileges are allowed to view all Restricted
Categories and Photo Albums. |
Any other reader, even one who is logged in, will not be able to access the Category or Photo Album until s/he has been granted permission to do so. Such permission is granted in the Category's or Photo Album's Category Security page.
Getting to a Category or Photo Album's "Category Security" Page
The steps to getting to a Category of Photo Album's Category Security page are:

Go to the Post Manager. |
| 2.
Select the Category or Photo Album whose Category Security page you want
modify |
| 3.
Click on the "Category Security" link in the Navigation Bar. |

If you not already in the Article and Photo Manager, click on the Post Manager tab in the Navigation Bar.
Select the Category or Photo Album Whose Category Security Page You Want
You can select the Category or Photo Album using the Category Tree (located along the left side of the page):

...or by using the Category Menu near the top of the page.

Click on the "Category Security" Link in the Navigation Bar
Once you have selected the Category or Photo Album, click on the Category Security link in the Navigation Bar. You will now be in the Category Security page for the selected Category or Photo Album.

The Category Security page should look like this:

The Category Security Page is divided into two major sections:

Users |
| This
is a list of individual users who have some kind of permission for the Category
or Photo Album. |
| · | Category
Groups |
| Groups
are a way of assigning permissions to a number of users. You add users to
a group, and then assign permissions for a Category or Photo Album to that
group. |
Users and Groups can have one of these kinds of permission for the Category or Photo Album:
| · | View |
| A
user with permission to View is allowed to read the Category or Photo
Album if it is Restricted. |
| · | View
/ Post |
| A
user with permission to View / Post is allowed to read the Category
or Photo Album if it is Restricted and to post articles to the Category. |
Granting Permission to Individual Users
The controls in the Category Users section are used to grant permissions to individual users.
The steps to granting permission to a user are:
| 1.
Enter the user's username into the "Enable Blogware User" field.

| 2.
Select the type of permission from the "Permissions" menu. |
| 3.
Click the "Enable User" button. |
Enter the user's username into the "Enable Blogware User" field
You need to know the username for the account of the user to whom you wish to grant permission for the Category or Photo Album. Enter it into the Enable Blogware User field.

Use the Permissions menu to specify what kind of permission you wish to grant the user: View or View / Post.

Click the "Enable User" button
Once you have specified a username and permission type, click the Enable User button.

The user will then be granted the permission you specified. The page will reload with a message confirming that the user has been granted permission and the user's name will appear in the Category Users list.

Revoking Individual Users' Permissions
The controls in the Category Users list can be used to revoke permissions from one or more users.
The steps to revoking permission to a user are:

the checkbox in the "Delete" column for users who permissions you wish to
revoke. |
| 2. Click
the "Delete Selected Users" button. |
| 3. Click
"OK" when the "Are You Sure?" window appears. |
Check the checkbox in the "Delete" column for users who permissions you wish to revoke
Check the checkbox in the Delete column to mark users whose permissions you wish to revoke. This allows you to revoke more permissions for one or more users.

Click the "Delete Selected Users" button
Once you have selected all the users whose permissions you wish to revoke, click the Delete Selected Users button.

Click "OK" when the "Are You Sure?" window appears
A window will appear asking to confirm that you want to revoke the selected users' permissions.

Click OK to confirm that you want to revoke their permission or Cancel to cancel the operation.
The users you selected will then have their permissions revoked. The page will reload with a message confirming that the permissions have been revokes and the users' names' will no longer appear in the Category Users list.
