BlogHarbor weblogs support the use of weblog client tools which allow you to post articles and images to your weblog using a familiar Windows or Macintosh based sofware, rather than the web-based interface of the Blog Admin Control Panel.
These weblog editors add additional capabilites which are not possible when editing via the web control panel, allowing advanced bloggers increased flexibility when posting articles and images. BlogHarbor weblogs support the Movable Type/Blogger API, which allows you to post to your BlogHarbor weblog using NewzCrawler or w.bloggar, two popular weblog client tools.
Blogjet is a new addition to the class of weblog clients, and with such features as a built-in spell checker, voice attachments, automatic photo uploading, and an easy to use HTML editor, Blogjet is a very powerful piece of software which all Windows users at BlogHarbor should give a try. The trial version of BlogJet is a free full-featured version that will expire after 30 days of use; Blogjet is priced at $19.95.
This article will walk you through the steps of setting up Blogjet to access your BlogHarbor weblog.
BlogHarbor is not a partner of or affiliated in any way with BlogJet, but we have tested their software and found that it is compatible with BlogHarbor weblogs. BlogJet was easy to download and configure, and we were able to post to our BlogHarbor weblog in minutes.
Step 1: Launch BlogJet
The first step in configuring BlogJet is to launch the program; you will be presented with the Account Wizard:
You've already got a blog, so click on the lower checkbox and click on the Next button.
Step 2: Edit connection settings
In the next step, you will need to enter the connection settings. Choose Blogware from the Provider list. Yes, we will bug the BlogJet folks to add a BlogHarbor icon in there, but for now let's just choose the Blogware option. Everything else will be filled in for you automatically, now just click Next.
Step 3: Enter Username and Password
Now enter the Username and Password for your BlogHarbor weblog. This would be the same Username and Password you would use to access the Blog Admin Control Panel.
Step 4: File Upload Configuration
BlogJet can upload image files for you when you post an article containing images from your local disk. If you choose User Default upload location, BlogJet will upload images into the root or top folder of your weblog.
If you create a folder or directory on your blog using the File Manager, you can choose to have BlogJet upload images to that directory instead. In this example, we have already created a directory named images on the weblog and are instructing BlogJet to upload any images to that directory:
Step 5: Enter Account Title and Address
Now you just need to enter a title for the account: this title is used only by BlogJet as a way for you to identify this blog, it does not alter the name of the weblog itself. The address or URL of your blog should be filled in for you:
Step 6: Login
That's it, you should now be able to create new articles and edit existing ones using BlogJet. Here's the Login window for BlogJet:
