BlogHarbor weblogs provide the capability for blog owners to allow Users or Groups of Users to post articles to all or part of your blog.

Some blog owners will want to create group weblogs, or create specific Categories of their weblog which have Multiple Authors.

There is no limit to the number of Authors you can allow to post to your weblog.

How to Add An Author

To allow other Users to post Articles to your weblog, first you will need the Username of the person to whom you want to grant this ability. You can ask your author what their Username is, or you can create the account yourself.

Creating A User Account

First, login to your Blog Control Panel if you have not already done so. Click on the Settings & Security tab in the Blog Control Panel. Look for the link to User Permissions in the OPTIONS row. From the User Permissions page, you can perform the following fuctions:

List Users
List and edit the users with permissions for your blog.
Add User
Add a user and assign blog permissions.
Invite User
Invite a user to become a reader, poster or admin of your blog.
Manage Groups
Create permission-based groups and add users.
Click on Add User. On the following page, you can use the New user section to create a user account for your author.

Granting Authoring Permission to a Category

Now that you have either created an account for your Author, or have learned the Username for someone with an existing Reader Account, you are ready to grant that user permission to post articles to a specific category.

If you wish to grant the author permission to post to all categories, please follow the instructions contained in this article for adding a Trusted Poster to your weblog.

Click on the Post Manager tab. On the left side of the page, you will see the Category Tree:

Click on the Category for which you would like to grant a user the ability to post an article. Then click on Category Security Options row. You should see something like the following at the top of the Category Users area:

Enable Blogware user:   Permissions:

Add the Username of the user you want to allow to post Articles to your blog in the Enable Blogware user text entry box, then select View/Post in the Permissions drop-down box. Finally, click the Enable User button and your Category will now be enabled for multiple authors.

Creating Groups

It will often be useful to create a Group of users who have access to post Articles to specific Categories of your weblog. Creating a Group allows you to give the Group permission to author multiple areas of your web log without you as the Blog Owner being required to grant Permissions to each user one by one.

Additionally, you can also use the Groups feature to grant permission to read Private areas of your weblog.

To create a Group, login to your Blog Control Panel and go to Settings & Security tab, then click User Permissions in the OPTIONS row. Lastly, click Manage Groups.

You will see a box like this:

User Groups
Group:
Description:

Enter the name of the Group you would like to create in the Group box, and a short description of the Group in the Description box. Click on the Create button and your new group will be created.

You will be able to add Users to the Group using a form like this:

Add User to This Group
Username:
Expires:
Never
1 Day
1 Day
1 Week
1 Month
1 Year
On

Add as many Users to the Group as you wish. Now you can use this Group name for Permissions, granting the Group the ability to View a restricted area of your blog or to post Articles to a specific category of the blog.
